Braselton, GA
Eddie Completes K&NPSE Season at Road Atlanta
The fourteen race schedule for the K&N Pro Series East ended on Friday on the 12 turn, 2.54 mile road course in the Road Atlanta 115 with 25 cars in competition. Eddie Mac and the Grimm Racing team struggled to an 18th place finish in the 28 lap event. Despite the run, Eddie Mac held on to post a fifth place finish in the NASCAR point’s race.

“We had a tough week right from the start during Tuesday’s practice,” said Eddie Mac. “”We were under horsepower and with the restrictor plate we all had to run, it hurt us even more. We finally seemed to find something and improved our lap time by a couple of seconds in the third practice but then the car spun out on a rumble strip and hit the tire barrier with the left side. The crew worked late into the night to fix the damage as best as we could for the race. Practice and qualifying were rained out on Thursday and the short practice an Friday really didn’t help us. The only good thing was we started fifth because of points after the rainout but we lost ground pretty quickly.”

“We weren’t competitive and decided to find a place we could run and try to hold on to our fifth place position in the points,” said a disappointed Eddie Mac. “You hate to end the season the way we did but that’s racing. We thought we had a chance to finish third in the points with three races to go but tire issues took care of that. We were tied with Ben Kennedy for third going into Loudon and were leading that race until a right front tire blew out and wrecked our new car. Another tire issue at Dover with three laps to go knocked us back to fifth in the points. It is pretty frustrating because we usually run well at both of those tracks. Road Atlanta is a great facility and it is too bad we didn’t run well there. Congratulations to Dylan (Kwasniewski) for winning the championship.”

“Rollie and I have so many people to thank for all the help and support, especially team owner Rob Grimm and his wife Karla,” said Eddie. “It was an honor to represent the National Multiple Sclerosis Society on the track in support of Megan Spaulding, her husband Ryne, their children, and the entire Grimm family. They are a fantastic family and support many causes. Even Karla and Rob’s son Dylan spent part of his summer volunteering his help in the Texas based New Path Adventures to help minister troubled youth. The family raised a lot of money for MS research when Grimm Nation marched at Pocono Raceway in support of Megan and to help find a cure. It is a real privilege to be associated with such a great group of people.”

“Of course, we have to thank our fans and sponsors for everything including: Stilo, HMS, Waymart Building Center, Peterson Automotive, Kustom Vinyl, the University of Northwestern Ohio students for their dedication and help this season on the crew. We really had a small but hard-working crew this year and I thank them for all their work and sacrifice both in the shop and at the track.”

Fox Sports 2 will televise the Road Atlanta 115 at 10 am on Saturday, Nov.2.
