Eddie Posts Top Ten Finish at Iowa Speedway
For the ninth time in ten races in this year’s K&N Pro Series East schedule, Eddie MacDonald scored another top ten run in the Pork Be Inspired 150 in the second East West combination at Iowa Speedway. With the eighth place finish the Grimm Construction Racing Team moved into fifth place in both owner and driver points.

MacDonald qualified 21st in the 36 car field saying, “We ended qualifying just about where we ran in practice. We have not been blinding fast it seems this season in practice, so this wasn’t any different. We set up thinking the track would get tight toward the halfway break and it did. We were running 15th at the break and decided to make adjustments for the car to tighten up near the end of the race as it did in the first half but it got real loose instead. We may have gone too far but we did gain a lot of spots so posting another top ten was pretty good.”

The Grimm Racing Team scored a fifth place finish in its first trip to the 7/8 of a mile oval back in March in the first combination race pitting the top East and West drivers against each other. The East drivers dominated this time around with the top eight positions recorded before Michael Self took first place West points with his ninth place run with MacDonald saying, “This just proves how highly competitive the East series has become. For a while we were pretty even with the west guys but with all the Cup involvement in the East, it is extremely difficult to compete. When you can run consistently in the top ten as we have this season, we really have done well. It is tough being a small team competing in this setting but Rollie, team owner Rob Grimm, and the crew are determined to work hard and do as well as we can. We are happy to be in fifth in the points and will work hard to stay there. It says a lot about this team to accomplish what we have.”

The # 71 gained positions during the second half riding in the tenth spot with 25 laps to go. MacDonald moved into seventh with 15 laps remaining, and then lost one position with eight laps remaining to take the checkered flag saying, “The car was loose at the end so we just tried to get the best finish we could without wrecking. It is a long trip for us and I am thankful for everyone’s help. We return next for another race at Greenville Pickens Speedway on Labor Day weekend where we had a fifth place finish there back in March so hopefully we can have another great run.”

SPEED will televise the Pork Be Inspired race on Thursday, August 16 at 3 p.m.
